HippoRemote LITE iPhone App Review
If you have ever wanted to turn your iPod touch or iPhone into a wireless remote, this is the app for you. We weren’t really sure what to think about this app at first, but after trying it out, it is really cool! HippoRemote LITE was developed by RoboHippo LLC and it offers some really neat functionality features in a very simple and easy to understand utility.
The app can be installed to work with Windows OS. The Windows install requires the downloading of a VNC client as opposed to the shorter route that Mac users take. There is a step by step guide contained within the app to help you windows users get this set up correctly, so kudos to the developers for including that in the app. As soon as we got it up and running, we were able to surf the web and type on your computer using only the iTouch and iPhone that we were using. Its actually pretty cool. I’m sure some people will love this functionality while others will probably hate it, but the fact remains that it is easy to use, and could work well if your keyboard ever broke or if your mouse was destroyed.
The LITE version of the app only includes keyboard and mouse functionality, but the full version contains some more intricate features like browser plugins, and an arrow pad as well as macros. The full version also eliminates advertisements and is much more functional for someone that wants to get the maximum amount of functionality out of this app.
- The LITE version is free and offers keyboard and mouse connectivity
- There is a setup guide included within the app to hep you setup on Windows or Linux
- The keyboard and mouse functions allow you to control your computer through the iPhone or iTouch.
- The full version allows for plugins for a web browser as well as macros and an arrow pad
This is a fun app for the geek that wants to have the iPhone or iTouch control everything around them. This is truly a fun way to dominate the electronics in your house with something made by apple. The user interface is very simple and the workings of the app are very straight forward and make a lot of sense. Overall this is a very fun app and totally worth the measly $.99 cents it costs.
This app has gotten 4 out of 5 stars and costs $.99 cents for the full version.
